Founder Message: The Vision Behind Our Mission
I founded the Black Cowboy Coalition because I saw a glaring absence of Black representation in the equine community. Having lived in diverse places—from Jamaica and Georgia to Nevada—I’ve collected a wealth of cultural and agricultural related experiences, most of which I’ve captured on video. Sharing these authentic, unplanned moments felt essential.
While working in the equine industry, I witnessed photographers profiting from images of Black cowboys and cowgirls without their knowledge or consent. It struck me that our community deserved to control and share our own stories. That’s why I decided to take charge and provide a true, unfiltered view of our world.
I created the Black Cowboy Directory to centralize and support Black-owned barns, ranches, farms, saddle clubs, and other organizations. Our user-friendly, free database connects talent with entertainment and educational experiences, employment opportunities and offers valuable resources to elevate Black representation in the industry.
Empowering Legacy: Aisha's Mission to Elevate Black Cowboys and Strengthen Community Bonds
In September 2021, Aisha established the Black Cowboy Coalition, a groundbreaking organization dedicated to empowering disadvantaged youth and adults nationwide; and forging stronger bonds among Black Cowboys and the broader community. As a 5th Generation Cowgirl, Aisha is dedicated to preserving the esteemed legacy of her ancestors, who were renowned Ranchers and Cowboys from Texas and Louisiana. With a degree from Howard University and an accomplished career as a Cybersecurity and IT Infrastructure Consultant for Fortune 100 companies, Aisha adeptly blends professional success with her fervent dedication to community service. Through the Black Cowboy Coalition, Aisha is on a mission to spotlight and elevate Black Cowboys, Horsemen, Ranchers, and Farmers, while cultivating deeper community connections.
